Happy Juneteenth!
Juneteenth is a Federal recognized holiday that celebrates the end of slavery and reminds people to never lose hope or faith during hard times.
On June 19, 1865, around 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas to announce that more than 250,000 enslaved people in the state were free by executive decree.
The following year, the state of Texas organized the first celebration that has evolved into events with music, barbecues, prayer services, and more.
